Texoma Medical Center, a 414-bed acute care facility has been providing quality health care to the residents of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma since 1965. Additionally, nursing will provide professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times. The Standards of Practice set forth by the professional nursing associations will provide guidelines for the competent, safe and professional practice.

Basic Purpose of the Job:

The Nurse Navigator functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team as an advocate and educator for patients from point of entry, through diagnostic studies, diagnosis and treatment plan for cancer. This position coordinates a plan of care including appointments, transportation, and education, serving as a
liaison throughout the facility and in the community regarding services for this unique population. This person will develop relationships with radiologists, surgeons, oncologists, radiation therapists, hospitalists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to care for patients with a diagnosis of cancer. This
person will also serve as the charge nurse of center operations.

Registered Nurse (RN) Job Requirements:

• Current Texas nursing license or compact license.
• BSN preferred
• 5 years nursing experience with 3 in an oncology related field.
• AHA/ARC BLS required at hire.
• Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
• Must be able to identify and competently address needs of populations served.
• Knowledge of oncology disease process and symptom management.
• Must have the ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, physicians, administration and the public.
• Requires familiarity with personal computers; the ability to communicate orally and in writing; have excellent interpersonal skills; and possess knowledge of community resources, hospital processes, structure and function.
